Moody Barn Wedding in Arlington, WA

Kind of like your kids, you shouldn’t pick favorites. We love all of our weddings for different reasons, so we try not to pick a favorite. But this one, this one is a favorite with some of my favorite people! My nephew! I was so touched and happy when Cassidy & Alec asked me to design their flowers. They both worked for me as freelancers throughout the years on weddings, so they had an idea of what to expect. It was so fun going through the design process with them. Figuring out colors, in-season flowers and design that fit their gorgeous venue as well as their edgy style.

To a vendor, sometimes the statement of “my aunt is going to do the flowers”, brings a worry to the photographer or venue. Only because a design could totally change with a DIY touch. So when Alec told their photographer that his aunt is doing the flowers, a little worry came over her. But once she saw our work, and we messaged a bunch, we became fast friends and she realized we are legit!! Once I saw Lindsay’s beautiful photography, I knew we were going to make some magic with this day.

We loved the couple dressed in all black with the guys in gray and the ladies in burgundy. It was such a moody vibe. Cassie is so creative and had a big hand in all the details for their day. She designed their paper goods and favors, they turned out so cute.

The flowers were a mix of local in-season blooms like peonies and ranunculus, tucked in with tropical leaves like monsteras and ti leaves. Keeping them a mix of light and dark for contrast. The most amazing burgundy anthurium were tucked in all the floral elements.

The ceremony overlooked a greenery field that was the perfect backdrop for the lush floral columns and greenery around the arbor. Asymmetrical design that was easy to transition to the reception. Along the aisle we set large arrangements that coordinated with the columns in the light blush and deep burgundy flowers and emerald greenery.

I was so obsessed with Cassie’s black dress. A gorgeous black flowing gown, fitted on the top and a long train to follow. She looked so amazing with her sleeve of tattoos and soft elegant hair. Alec was so dapper in all black from head to toe. They seriously looked so amazing and happy!

They decided on a mix of long and round tables with burgundy linens and a layered runner in blush. Black accents in the candle holders, vases and table numbers brought in that moody vibe. We designed three different centerpiece styles, tall to help give height under the amazing barn ceilings, a low arrangement that coordinated with the tall florals and then finally the long tables had different types of candles with emerald greenery and a few blooms tucked down the middle of the table. My sister-in-law worked hard on so many details bringing everything to life to make a cohesive design. Everything looked so good together and the color palette really brought the balance of light and dark to give it a lush and moody feel.

The Marionfield Farms is so beautiful inside and out. The wood inside the barn with tall ceiling and drop lights over the guests is modern and versatile. The loft gives you a birdseye view on dinner, dancing and all the design details.

I am so happy they trusted us to design their flowers for their special day, because that would be some awkward family get togethers if we didn’t make it dreamy for them! We are also so appreciative that they hired Lindsay as their photographer! She is so lovely in every way, and we got to work together a year later for a styled shoot. I can’t wait until the next event we can work together on.

The day was perfect, no rain, gorgeous venue, lots of love and laughter throughout the day and night. We loved designing this moody, romantic look with a modern vibe of all the bride's favorite flowers!!! Designing flowers for family is a different kind of stress, but we would do it all over again in a heartbeat!
