Winter Wedding at Pacific Northwest Kiana Lodge

One of my favorite venues is Kiana Lodge. I think it is because you can get on a ferry to get there and you feel like it is a far away destination for your friends and family to gather. It has the best of both worlds that the Pacific Northwest has to offer, the woods and the sea. It is nestled under tall trees that make you feel like you are secluded in the mountains. It is also right on the water. You can walk the beach, listen to the waves and relax. The garden area is perfect for an outdoor ceremony. Or if you choose the winter like Bonnee & Abhi did, you can have your ceremony in garden atrium. One of my favorite details of the atrium is the hanging lanterns, stars that float over your guest tables. This is such a great room.

Bonnee & Abhi live in Las Vegas. They decided to have a destination here in Washington to get married around the gorgeous trees that our state offers. They picked a perfect place! They wanted a design that played off of the Pacific Northwest and woodsy vibe. Their wedding was intimate, so on the tables we used wood slices and tall lanterns with flowers flowing out of it. She loved the combo of moody burgundy with soft blush and splashes of white. Dark greenery of salal and fern helped the flowers stand out. Bonee decided to have hair flowers. Instead of a crown, she went with blooms that hugged the back of her hair that her veil could hang from. I love how it turned out.

I love that this couple wanted to come here for their wedding because of how beautiful it is here. And they really got the best of both worlds with choosing the Kiana Lodge.

The Gathered Creative Styled Shoot in Seattle

One of the coolest styled shoots I did this year was for The Gathered Creatives. It’s a group of amazing photographers that put together a workshop for other photographers to come and photograph a styled shoot without having to plan anything. Some were new to the business, or wanted to do test shots and some wanted to just be creative. The outcome was so awesome. It is great to see different styles and perspectives on the same scene. The day was broken up in three different groups, a couple, bridal and boudoir. We were in an incredible space in Pioneer Square with perfect natural light. It had so many great elements to use as a backdrop, like the brick wall, the windows or the furniture and accessories that were in the space!

For flowers I didn’t need to do much. They let me have creative freedom. I went with funky textures for the boutonnieres for the guys. I kept with the texture theme for the two bouquets for the bridal and the boudoir. Dark and moody for the boudoir which went great with her dark intimate wear. Then soft and light for the bridal. There were hints of blush and off white which went so well with the dresses we used. For a fun backdrop, I created an altar piece that had air fern climbing up them, almost like huge feather boas. They turned out so amazing.

It’s so hard to narrow down what pictures to use. So I decided to break down my favorites from some of the photographers that I got shots from and grouped those together. They are just so good!!! A huge thank you to our models for the day! Jenna was gorgeous and the dresses fit her perfectly. She was the sweetest!!! Thank you to the guys, Ian & Jason. You both were so fun to work with and looked so dapper!!! And thank you to Chelsea, she was a last minute fill in and she rocked it. We all said people need to channel her fierce vibe when getting boudoir done. She was so fantastic to be around. You guys made this day so amazing!!!

I can’t wait to join in the next event like this. Felt so good to be creative and be around people that bring out that creativity.

A Sophisticated Persian and Jewish Wedding in Sodo Seattle

A chilly but gorgeous sunny afternoon in February was the backdrop for Samira & Dan’s wedding day. They were lucky enough to get amazing pictures outside with all the great murals around the Sodo area of Seattle and the perfect weather. I love how elegant they looked with very industrial backgrounds. The bridesmaids looked so amazing! They had different dresses in a neutral, blush palette. Samira’s dress was one of my favorite cuts. A high neck and cap sleeves…so beautiful.

Samira’s family was working hard when we arrived on making the Sofre Aghd table just perfect. Sofre means spread and Aghd means ceremony. It smelled so good with all the fruits and spices. Behind the table where Samira & Dan would sit, we hung greenery down the drapery, it turned out so elegant. Samira walked down the aisle by herself, which I think was a first for my weddings. It was very important for Dan & Samira to include both a traditional Persian and Jewish ceremony which made it so unique. One of my favorite moments was their dancing down the aisle after being announced as husband and wife. Loved that, everyone cheering and throwing petals.

They had long tables for their reception. We kept it simple, elegant and light. Canvas Event Space is very modern with white walls and cement floors. With white linens and champagne table runners the candles and white and neutral flowers looked amazing along with the splashes of gold in the votives, chiavari chairs and flatware. I love how simple it all looked, but very sophisticated. Some of the tables had long flower arrangements and the others had floating candles in cylinder vases with greenery at the base. It almost looked like everything was glowing.

This was such a gorgeous day for the sweetest couple and their families. It came together so smooth with a fantastic vendor team! I am so happy I was a part of this gorgeous day!
