If you have ever planned a wedding you know how many details are involved in the whole process. Now imagine doing all the planning for your Washington wedding from the comfort of your home in Australia! Sarah is from here and Rob is from Australia. The week before the wedding they arrived only to start the design of the centerpieces and final details of the big day. Sarah & her mom had been collecting vases, mercury glass and apothecary jars to make little vignettes for the tables. Their ceremony & reception for friends and family was at the gorgeous Thornewood Castle in Lakewood. We crossed our fingers for no rain to have their ceremony in the garden. It ended up being a gorgeous day!
The gardens, the castle and that amazing red dress just took you to another time. So gorgeous!
Sarah wanted a flower crown. I was so excited to add texture, and little fun elements like the tiny mushrooms, a succulent and scabiosa pods. Her hair and makeup were perfect....those red lips!!!
We didn't need to add much to the ceremony. The garden was so pretty. One large arrangement on the sun dial that was moved to the reception was all that was needed.
These just look like a fairy tale. Sarah was stunning in her red dress. Rob put together his fantastic suit with a few different pieces. His jacket was a leather swallow-tailed coat and shoulder pieces called pauldrons that really made the look come together. I love that they weren't in traditional wedding attire.
These are two of my favorite shots from their amazing day. I love the chess piece one...so serious, but fun at the same time.
Their family feast style tables were decorated with different vases and apothecary jars with moss, succulents and little touches of whimsy. Bouquets of dark flowers were on each table and were highlighted by lots of candle light. I snapped a few pictures with my phone...not the greatest but I love the details of the tables that Sarah thought of. It was the perfect table setting for this castle.
Oh and did I mention they had a burlesque show! And that cake...of course they cut it with a sword!
I loved being a part of this amazing day. Sarah, Rob and their family were so great to work with and so sweet. The unique details that Sarah came up with really made this whole day come together. Cheers to the happy couple!
